We’re looking for a remote concept artist with experience or portfolio pieces covering game vfx concepts to reinforce our core VFX outsourcing team for an ongoing sci-fi, semi-stylised project. The ideal candidate would have :

• Strong illustration techniques (concept art, sketches, theory of colour, of image composition, of light...);

• Some level of expertise in their digital drawing software of choice;

• Ability to conceptualize in a realistic / semi-realistic style, environment VFX or spells deriving from a given character or environment piece;

• Ability to conceptualize technical directions (layers of meshes and particles, flow of movement,…) to facilitate 3D FX production;

• Ability to visually communicate ideas and assimilate feedback;

• Ability to respect a predefined visual chart, to develop and enrich it, while exploring new directions;

• Ability to work in a multidisciplinary artistic environment and meet production deadlines

• Ability to help other departments such as characters and environments;

• Knowledge of visual and graphic trends (movies, web, games,...);

• Experience in a similar role or related portfolio pieces;

• Some surface-level knowledge of game engines;

• Non game related art ventures, experience with other art medium that inspire you;

Responsibilities (will adapt to profile):

• Helping define the art direction of a new and exciting VR game IP;

• Bringing your creative ideas to the table;

• Iterating quickly on first pass sketches;

• Integrating feedback until final workable concepts;

• Establishing boards or charts for different types of enemies, factions, environments;

• Supporting the rest of the team when needed;
